For the Love of Quilts (Pour L'amour des Couvre-pieds) quilt
show will be held at Belleville High School, 635 Church St.,
Belleville, WI, on Friday and Saturday, July 17th-18th from 9 am to 4
pm. Presented
by the Belleville Chamber of Commerce and Patches and Petals Quilt
Shop, this quilt show will certainly delight all that attend. Over 200 examples of quilter’s art, from traditional bed quilts to
contemporary wall hangings, will be on display.
Quilts will be judged in 6 categories divided by
techniques. Awards include first,
second and third in each category, Viewer’s Choice and Best of Show. The show is open to everyone to enter
quilts. Entry forms are due by July 8th, 2009. Special exhibits will include “Kindergarten Quilts” by
Belleville Kindergarten classes; “Weaver Log Cabin Quilts” and “Barn Quilts”.

The show also offers a vendor mall, a silent
auction, demonstrations and lectures.
Each day 4 different lectures will be held. Attend one or attend them all.
Lectures are $10 for the entire day.
Quilt appraisals by Sandy Schweitzer, AQS Certified
Appraiser, will take place on Friday, July 17th from 9:00 to 4:00
p.m. by appointment. Fee per appraisal
is $45.00. Learn about your quilt and
how to protect it. Email or call the shop (608.424.1516) to set up an appointment. The appraiser suggests that you complete an appraisal form before your appointment.
Admission to the show is $5.00/day
(Lecture fee is an additional $10/day).
Children under 5 are free. Advanced
tickets ($4) for the show and/or lectures are available online or at Patches and
Petals. Food and refreshments will be
available. Parking is free. Buses are welcome. Proceeds from the quilt show will go toward Belleville Chamber of Commerce’s Scholarship Fund.
A full size quilt, “Willowberry
Gardens”, will be raffled off. Tickets are $1.00 or 7
for $5.00. Tickets can be purchased at the show or from the shop.
Additional acitvities will be held in
Belleville on Saturday, July 18th, with a celebration of Bastille
Day. There will be a talent show, Pets in the Park, and country
music at 5 pm in Library Park.

wanted to know about getting your quilt ready to be quilted by a professional
longarm quilter. How do I get my quilt to lay straight? Do I need to send
batting? Can I piece the back? How much does it cost to have someone do the
quilting? How far in advance do I need to schedule an appointment to get my
quilt completed? …
1:00 – 2:00 - Asian Design, Presented by Gloria Stehley, Saving
Thyme Quilt Shop
No computer program is needed! And there is no pattern, so you don’t even
have to read one. Using ideas from Asian design, start with a main focus
fabric and look at the possibilities in it. Create your own quilt around
your main fabric and add supporting fabrics and borders. Add simple
Sashiko to enhance your design. There you go – a quilt that is your own
creation and is one of a kind.

Woodland Quilts Quilt Shop
Take a "walk" down memory lane while enjoying retro fabrics and
vintage decorating styles, retro homemaking tips, thrifty finds and fun
mid-century recipes. Aprons, hot pads, quilts and clothing from the
"depression era to the "atomic age" will be shown and discussed.

Carol and her staff have been creating unique patterns. Carol has put
together a wonderful trunk show of their designs. She will share techniques to
make your projects go together like a dream.
11:00 – Noon - Square in a Square Trunk Show, Presented by Julie
Jenkins

present a trunk show of many beautiful quilts all created with the Square in a
Square ruler. Learn how to easily make flying geese, half square

Lynn Alme, Patches and Petals Quilt Shop
Your twisted tangled fabric scraps have been safely tucked away in far reaches
of your fabric stash too long. You’re preserved all of your leftover pieces in
wonderful colors and prints, with every intention to use them someday.
